Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession
Trust - This ethical standard of teaching is encompassed by 3 main areas. Fairness is treating my students as people and recognizing ways in which all can be included. Openness is creating a safe space for my students. Honesty is always holding up my integrity as a teacher and doing everything in the best interest of my students.
Respect - This ethical standard is characterized by trust, as well. This goes hand in hand with honesty and holding the teaching profession to a high standard. It is also characterized by fair-mindedness, always keeping the needs of your students in mind.

The Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession
Commitment to Students and Student Learning
As a teacher, I must be sensitive to my students needs and always keep fairness in my mind. It is my duty to treat my students as productive citizens of Canadian society and to help them along their path.
Professional Knowledge/Ongoing Professional Learning
As a teacher, I will always look to further myself in the profession, and to constantly reflect and develop on my work. This is for the betterment of myself and to provide students the best education possible. Understanding the many areas of teaching is of utmost importance.
Professional Practice
I will strive to apply my pedagogical and professional knowledge to give students the best education and learning experience possible. I will use my knowledge on assessment and evaluation to provide a heightened learning experience for my students.
Leadership in Learning Communities
I strive to be apart of a teaching community, as well as a school community. It is important to participate and promote safe and supportive spaces for learning. Our leadership role is one that comes with many responsibilities and we must uphold the ethical standards of teaching practice.
