PollEverywhere
PollEverywhere is a fantastic resource to get instant feedback from your students on a question you have for them. It can log individual student's responses and allows the collection and display of thoughts and ideas. This is ideal for gaining opinions about aspects of science and possibly looking at different misconceptions!

Kahoot!
Kahoot! is a game-like educational resource that can gain instant diagnostic feedback from the class. It is a poll based game that you can play on any computer, smartphone, or tablet. One I had a student join in through his Nintendo DS! There's a large range of freedom and students get incredibly excited for a Kahoot!

Plickers
Plickers is similar to Kahoot, but it does not require any technology expect for a teacher having an iPad or smartphone and access to a computer in the classroom. Every student gets a card specific to them that they can raise up answer A, B, C, or D. This program gives instant diagnostic feedback for every individual student in the class with no pressure to the student as others cannot see their answer.

DRiVe Inquiry
This is an approach by the Thames Valley District School Board that I have found to be incredibly effective and useful in a science classroom. DRiVe Inquiry is a powerful and effective way to teach science and technology. This approach emphasizes inquiry-based teaching. Follow the linked image (click the picture) to find out more and on the site are examples of DRiVe documents.
